The bunny had already started using Hada Labo's products when they started in Singapore about 2 years ago, so I was thrilled that the nice folks at sent over the SHA Hydrating Light Lotion.

The happy bunny on receiving the Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Light Lotion
The Hada Labo range is manufactured by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Japan and The Mentholatum Co. It's really popular - 1 bottle is sold every 2 seconds in Japan!

Though it's stated as lotion on the bottle, this is actually how the Japanese describe what we usually call toner over here. The toner looks exactly like water but is a tinsy bit denser and has a slippery gel like feel to it. Since I have sensitive skin, I'm happy to note that it's pH balanced and has no added fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant.

It looks exactly like water...
The toner contains 3 types of hyaluronic acids that penetrate the epidermis to hydrate the skin and prevent moisture loss. They are the the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) whereby 1gm is able to hold 6 liters of water, the Nano Hyaluronic Acid which has a molecule size 1/20 of HA and can easily penetrates to deeply moisturize the skin, and the Super Hyaluronic Acid which has 2x the moisture retention capacity of HA to keep skin hydrated and smooth for a longer period of time.

The full ingredients for the SHA Light Lotion are: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Methylparaben, Disodium Succinate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Succinic Acid, PPG-20 Methyl Glucose Ether, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate.

To use, pat about 2-3 drops onto your face till the toner is fully absorbed. It's slightly sticky when first applied, but as the product is absorbed, the stickiness magically disappears. Immediately after use, my skin was soft to touch, all bouncy and QQ. I give 2 thumbs up for it's moisturizing prowess! Comparing the Light Lotion to the original, I felt that the light version felt more refreshing and was absorbed faster by my skin.

Just 2-3 drops of the toner is enough for my entire face
