Hankang Korean BBQ Restaurant

If not for Deal.com.sg, I would never have found Hankang Korean BBQ Restaurant. It's located in the back alley of 11 Mackenzie Road, not an area that this bunny would frequent.
The place is small, unpretentious and decorations are simple. Not much ambience to talk about here. It's also not air-conditioned.

It's an ala-carte buffet, so small portions of meats and seafood are served, with the option to order more if desired. The tiger prawns were pretty fresh and the squid rings definitely had more taste than what I had at The Corner Place. The meats are marinated in a variety of flavors, and the bf and I agreed that we like the pork that's lightly seasoned with pepper. There are also additional items available for BBQ for diners to help themselves with at the side.

The cooked foods are decidedly more impressive than the BBQ foods. The Topokki is soft and chewy, and the sauce is a good mix of sweetness and hot spice. For the Dang Hoon, it's less oily than the ones I had at 2D1N Soju Bang but loses slightly to the latter in terms of taste. The vegetable pancake was pretty well done with a crispy exterior and generous vegetable fillings.

Soupy items are available for the buffet as well - they have Seaweed Soup, Kimchi Stew, and Soya Bean Stew in pots at the front of the restaurant.

Service wise, it's was not impeccable, but I was won over by the enlivening attitudes of the Korean couple managing this place. They seemed to be genuinely concerned if we had enjoyed our dinner.

    1. Dear foodreviews,

Since you're absolutely rude by typing in caps, my reply to you has no holds barred.

I WON'T have you insulting my credibility by saying my review is not true. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and the above is mine. Who are you to tell me that it's not true unless you were there with me?! Your experience may be different but that is none of my business!

Also, in case you haven't noticed, I did mentioned that there isn't much ambience at Hankang in the 2nd paragraph. The last paragraph also mentioned about the service. If you do not understand what's "not impeccable", check a dictionary!

    1. Hi Anonymous,

I know that there are complaints on the attitude of the particular uncle floating around online.

To be honest, I think it would be unfair for me to judge him as I don't have much of an impression of the uncle during my visit :)
