Lunch @ Kungfu Paradise, Jcube

The bunny had lunch at Kungfu Paradise with her colleague today and wow... it was kicking good!

Located at #01-07 of Jcube, Kungfu Paradise is part of the Paradise Group and serves up Cha Chan Teng style foods as well as western entries such as steak, burgers and pasta in their menu.

The restaurant has a specials menu, called The KungFu Hits, available from 11am - 5pm, Mon- Fri. All items on this menu are priced at $7.90. To order, diners are give a slip of paper to fill in what they want and the waiter/waitress will collect the slip.

I had the Wasabi Fish Cutlet Rice, which was impressive given its price. The fish was fried with a batter that gave it a very crunchy exterior while the meat was tender, delicate and flaky. I was also pleased with the wasabi sauce. It was mild and had the taste of wasabi without overwhelming. (I'm not a fan of the overpowering wasabi smell.) The flavored egg that came along is praiseworthy too. It was done exactly right with a soft center. I remember seeing the egg as an item on its own in the menu for $1.80. Yummy!

We got the Custard Lava Bun ($3.90) to share and it was so so good! The piping hot creamy custard literally flowed all over my fingers when I broke open the soft, cottony bun. It's similar to the ones served at Paradise Pavilion.

Service wise, most staff at the outlet seem to be new and were wearing a pin to indicate that. The waiter that served my table did not know what was the soup of the day and the cashier was slightly slow.

In all, I throughly enjoyed my lunch, albeit the slow service and Kungfu Paradise has my stamp of approval with it's value for money eats. Good news for night owls too, the restaurant opens till 2am from Sun - Thu and 4am on Fri, Sat & eve of public hols.
