Mookata for dinner @ New Udon Thai Food

I have been craving for Thai food lately so the bf and I decided to hop down to Golden Mile Complex for dinner. We settled for New Udon Thai Food, located at #01-55 of the complex for Moo Kata.

Moo kata literally translates to pork-pan. For those who are unfamiliar, this form of Thai BBQ consists of a dome-shaped pan sitting on hot charcoal. The rim of the pan is filled with soup and drippings from the bbq meats flavors it.

We ordered the set which included a variety of seafood, meats and vegetables. Interestingly, diners are given lard instead of butter or oil to lubricate the pan.

The food was really fresh and the meats were well-marinated. It was so good that we ordered a second helping of chicken & pork ($15).

I loved the sauce that was provided - sweet, spicy and enhanced by the sesame seeds inside. It accompanies the food very well, adding an edge to them.

Digressing a little, I'm quite thankful that this place comes with a free-flow supply of tissue paper. The eatery literally brought tears to my eyes, not because I was so touched by the delicious food, but the thick fumes that can be rather overwhelming. On that note, be prepared to smell when you leave the place.

New Udon Thai Food is a good place to consider for a late night supper. They open till 3am, Mon - Sun.
