Dinner @ Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar

The bf and I decided to give Koh's a try after reading good reviews. Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar isn't exactly a restaurant - it's a tenant in Wisma Atria's food court.

The place itself is rather small and the seats we were allocated when we visited on Sunday were right at the corner. Other diners had to stand up and move aside before we could access/leave our seats - it was absolutely claustrophobic!

First dish up was the sashimi ($20). Presentation wise, let's just say that I don't think the chefs are even trying; taste wise, nothing fantastic - it was edible, but not the freshest. In fact, the swordfish tasted just a wee bit soggy.

We also had the Bento set ($16.90) which came with eel and soft shell crab. The roasted eel was nicely done - slightly charred on the outside yet soft and tender in the inside. Conversely, the soft shell crab was quite disappointing as the batter was far too thick.



For the grilled dishes, we ordered the beef fillet ($12) and foie gras ($8). The texture of the beef was alright, with a slight pinkishness in the middle. However, the beefy taste seemed to be overwhelmed by the seasoning. 

I have to say I was pretty happy with the foie gras. Though grilled to a crisp on the outside, the fatty liver seems to melt the moment you start to chew.

Overall, Koh's dishes up decent food at relatively reasonable prices. However, for the price range, I'll pick Itacho Sushi over Koh's any time, any day.
