My Scheming Bird's Nest Collagen Mask Review

My earlier post on the review of My Scheming's Herbal Anti-Acne Mask mentioned that I tried 2 masks with good results. Well, the Bird Nest Collagen Mask was the other of the 2.

Etude House Collagen Moistfull Peeling Wash

A sample of Etude House's Collagen Moistfull Peeling Wash made up part of the stash that was given to me with my recent Etude House purchase. After using for a week, this post is a review of the wash.

FaceQ Almond and Shea Butter mask

The bunny is going through a mask craze lately. Last night, I tried Face Q's Almond and Shea Butter Mask which I received as a gift with purchase from Sunnanz during my My Scheming masks haul.

Medicated Beauty After Care Gel by Musee Platinum Tokyo

The therapist at Musee Platinum Tokyo handed me some samples of the Medicated Beauty After Care Gel to try out after my IPL session with them.

She mentioned that it's supposed to help with the patch of super dry, flaky skin that I have on my leg. I've tried so many moisturizers, creams and there's no significant effect on the patch so I wasn't harboring much hopes.

Then again, no harm trying since the samples are free. (Yes, I'm being a cheapskate bunny here. LOL)

New toy - Nexus 7

I'm actually writing this post with my brand new Nexus 7 from Google playstore.

Thank you DHL for expediting and delivering on Christmas day, 3 days earlier than the expected delivery date. It's a great Christmas present!

Merry Christmas!

The Oblivious Bunny wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead!

Happy holidays!

Thanks to the bf for the adorable Xmas kitties!

Etude House Strawberry Milk Talk

I finally broke out the sample pack of Etude House's Milk Talk Body Wash in Strawberry which I received with my recent Etude House purchases.

Wavve Grill & Chill @ Orange Tee Building

The bf and the bunny were in the Toa Payoh area for some shopping and decided to walk-in to Wavve, which is located at level 1 of Orange Tee Building, for their Spanish buffet ($24++).

Since it was slightly earlier than 6.30pm, we decided to order drinks and wait for the buffet to start. The interior is dark and looks more of a pub than a restaurant. I could hardly see the menu.

6.30pm came and went but the staff gave no indication that the buffet started. I had to go up to the counter, because all the staff seemed to be looking in the opposite direction when I waved for attention, to check. Even then, the staff debated among themselves if the buffet was ready for diners. It was a case of poor management, pure and simple.

My Beauty Diary 2-Step Europe Clarifying Pack

My Beauty Diary has recently introduced 5 continents-themed masks - Africa Hydrating Pack, America Soothing Pack, Asia Brightening Pack, Europe Clarifying Pack & Oceania Firming Pack. They are 2-step which means each pack comes with the sheet mask and a sachet of cream/emulsion for application after the mask. The packaging are all so cute and colorful.

My Scheming Herbal Anti-Acne Mask Review

The bunny has just hauled My Scheming masks from Sunnanz. They're going at less than a dollar a piece ($0.99 to be exact)!

By no fault of Sunnanz, this order almost gave me a heart attack, thanks to Singpost's atrocious service. (Read all about it here.) I'll like to take this opportunity to thank Christina from Sunnanz for her support and prompt follow-ups when the package went missing. Talk about the difference of heaven and hell in terms of customer service.

I'm happy to report that all the masks purchased this time round have very recent manufacturing dates, around Aug/Sep 2012.

Kkongdon Barbeque @ Marina Square

Kkondong is the new Korean BBQ kid on the block at Marina Square, #B1-01/02, opened by JP Pepperdine. The name supposedly translates to "best price value" in Korean.

The bf and I initially wanted to try their set dinner priced at $19.80++ (min 2 person), but decided to forgo that option as it was so misleading. The set dinner is essentially ONE set dinner for 2, not individual sets with minimum of 2 people to order. That was sore point #1.

Sore point #2: Plain water is charged at $0.30 per glass. Most korean restaurants serve free flow water, tea, and/or soft drinks.

Singpost's horrible service

Dear Singpost,

I am really appalled by your pathetic attempt at service. What was intended as happy shopping experience for Christmas gifts got totally ruined by your inability to provide accurate updates, prompt delivery and this is compounded by your apathetic customer service officers.

Orders were place with Sunnanz, one of Singapore Post's corporate customers and uses SMARTPAC to fulfill and despatch the goods. The goods were sent out on 13 Dec and I was given the tracking number SM000100211SG. In your own words on your website,, you said:
SmartPac is a postage-paid postal service for delivery anywhere in Singapore, the next working day for a fixed price.

  • Pick up a SmartPac and Enhanced efficiency – Assured next day door-step delivery*.
  • Peace of mind – Proof of delivery with complete reliability^.
  • Greater convenience – Enjoy free delivery and pick-up#.
  • Better value – Comes with free packaging box and only $4.70 for delivery up to 3kg.
  • Track & Trace – With easy online access, always know where your package is 24/7.
  • In that sense, shouldn't my parcel reach me on the 14th? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and take it as the parcel was mailed out after the cut of time (not likely as your officers picked the parcel from Sunnanz office in Pasir Ris).

That brings to my next point on your inaccurate tracking system. I got a huge shock on 17 Dec when the status was updated to Item delivered (to Door / Letterbox). My package was nowhere to be found and since it's after 6pm, I could not contact anyone from Singpost.

The very next morning, today, at 8, I called your service hotline 1605 and your officer told me that she would open a case number and investigate and would only revert in 3 working days. The wait is ridiculous. Why should I, as the customer, be penalized by your inability? As I was in a rush to get to work, I hung up the phone after your office committed to expediting the process.

Close to noon, I called again. This time, Jerry answered the call. Apparently, the customer service side have not even contacted the dispatch side. I insisted that Jerry pass the phone to someone who can help me more substantially. After being put on hold for more than 5 minutes, I was referred to Louise. Again, I had to insist that Louise contact the dispatch to give me an explanation - I told her that I was willing to wait on the line while she made that call. In the end, she promised that she will call me back after checking with the dispatch manager.

Almost an hour later, I finally got a call back. Louise explained that the parcel was scanned wrongly and was still at the dispatch area. My parcel will reach me the same day before 6.

What kind of a half baked excuse are you playing at Singpost? Scanned wrongly? What is the tracking number for then? Why is the scanning is done so haphazardly? Between 8 to noon, what were your officers doing? If I had not insisted and stood firm in my request, I have to wait 3 days to get a reply? This experience totally defeats the purpose of the premium paid to ensure safe passage and on time delivery. What are your procedures to ensure that packages reach their rightful owners? After the numerous complaints (just search on google if you are unaware of your shortcomings), are you ever going to improve your service?

It is really discomfiting for me, as a paying customer, that a parcel with a valid tracking number, correct address can have the package go missing. It's time you buck up.

    Nanbantei Japanese Restaurant

The bunny was at Far East Plaza to shop for my 7" tablet at shops like WhyMobile, Mobile Square with no break (or stocks for that matter) and the bf decided to give it a try to get seats at Nanbantei Japanese Restaurant.

Nanbantei is a small cozy restaurant that has a good reputation for good yakitori, grilled skewered food, which explains the perpetual queue, and the need for luck to get seats without prior reservations. I'll have to say the bf was super lucky this time - there were 2 empty seats left and on a weekend evening no less!

    328 Katong Laksa

A bowl of spicy, piping hot laksa hits the spot this dreary, rainy afternoon.

The bf and I were at the famous 328 Katong Laksa, located at 53 East Coast Road, right opposite Roxy Square. There's no menu here, just plain ol' laksa in Small ($4), Medium ($5) or Large ($6), with hum (cockles) or no, and otah.

    Small laksa

Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Gel Cream

I admit that I'm slow when on the snail cream craze but yeah, I'm on the the bandwagon now!

    Essence Cosmetics Warehouse Sale

For those unfamiliar with Essence, it's a drugstore cosmetic brand from Germany and entered the local market recently in end 2011. They are quite well-known in Europe for super affordable cosmetics. Best of all, they DO NOT test on animals!

The bunny was at the Essence Cosmetics warehouse sale earlier today. The sale was at 138 Joo Seng Road, #05-00.

    Canton Paradise @ Star Vista

The bunny had her virgin trip to Star Vista! The mall is part of the Capitamall mall group and is situated just next to Buona Vista MRT station. The architecture of the mall itself is pretty interesting - common areas are all non-air-conditioned. Shopping is kind of limited but Star Vista plays host to a number of eateries/ restaurants.

Canton Paradise is located at the basement of Star Vista, B1-45/46. The restaurant serves up Cantonese cuisine and all day dim sum. Like Paradise Dynasty, get a queue number and wait patiently for your turn as numbers are not called out in sequence.

    Paul @ Takashimaya

The bunny had sampled some of the sweets at Paul previously and decided to re-visit for dinner with the bf since we were already in the vicinity.

    Tuesday, December 11, 2012

The Green Bar @ Millenia Walk

The bf and I were looking for something to munch when we stumbled into The Green Bar at Millenia Walk, #01-91B.

The Millenia Walk outlet is the salad shop's second branch. The other is located at 16 Collyer Quay Hitachi Towers #01-16/17. It has a long list of accolades (which can be found on The Green Bar's Facebook page) which neither the bf nor I were aware of when we dined there.

Etude House Lash Perm 3-step Volumecara

The bunny was at Etude House to get some Christmas presents and got the Lash Perm 3-step Volumecara for myself.

It came highly recommended by the SA and I was intrigued by how this mascara could produce 3 kinds of effects. Ok... I am making excuses for buying even more makeup..

    Hankang Korean BBQ Restaurant

If not for, I would never have found Hankang Korean BBQ Restaurant. It's located in the back alley of 11 Mackenzie Road, not an area that this bunny would frequent.

    Monday, December 3, 2012

揾到食 Wen Dao Shi / Wen Dou Sek / 126

The bf and I had a late dinner at 揾到食 Wen Dao Shi or Wen Dou Sek, while some others know it as 126 due to it's address at 126 Sims Ave.

The bf, being familiar with the bustling eatery, automatically plonked himself down onto one of the empty seats by the roadside and started flipping the menu to order..

    Meiji Warehouse Sale 2012

The bunny was just at Meiji's annual factory warehouse sale, held at 36 Quality Road.

Here's some pics of what was available at the sale!

Halal Jap Buffet @ Shin Tokyo, Clementi City Vibe

The gals decided to get coupons for Shin Tokyo's lunch buffet at $15 (excluding GST) and the bunny joined in. The deal consisted of white-plate sushi on the conveyor belt, a bowl of ramen and free flow green tea. Not bad, or so we thought...

Reebonz Mega Sale @ Clifford Centre

Rows of Prada, Gucci, Furla, Miu Miu, Salvatore Ferragamo, Kate Spade and other branded bags are lined up for the picking at discounted prices at the Reebonz Mega Sale!

Food factory sales part 3: Ben Foods staff shop

This is the 3rd post in the series of articles on food sales where the bunny explores the various food factories in Singapore for good deals.

The bunny has hopped to 1 Fishery Port Road where Ben Foods is located to sniff out the going ons.

    Friday, November 23, 2012

Food factory sales part 2: Meiji Sweet Adventure Shop & Meiji Warehouse Sales 2012

This is the 2nd post in the series of articles where the bunny explores the various food factories for good deals.

The bunny has just hopped over to Meiji's weekly sales earlier and it was really fruitful...

Cheese fondue @ King Pot, East Coast Park

At Big Splash, East Coast Park, #01-05, King Pot is a whole different ball game from the run of the mill hot pot stalls.. It's almost fine dining. The decor of the place is tastefully done and waiters serve you with a smile the moment you walk in. The manager (or the person I assume to be the manager) was very friendly and patiently recommended drinks for us.

    Monday, November 19, 2012

    Lunch @ Kungfu Paradise, Jcube

The bunny had lunch at Kungfu Paradise with her colleague today and wow... it was kicking good!

Located at #01-07 of Jcube, Kungfu Paradise is part of the Paradise Group and serves up Cha Chan Teng style foods as well as western entries such as steak, burgers and pasta in their menu.

Korean BBQ @ The Corner Place, Marina Square

Korean BBQ is gaining popularity in Singapore and Marina Square is catching this wave with 2 relatively new Korean BBQ joints. One of these restaurants is The Corner Place Korean BBQ, located at Level 4, right next to the food court.

    Hello new Furby 2012!

Hasbro has recently released new 2012 Furbys. This revamp of the Furby looks much more cuddly and it's so cute that I couldn't resist getting one! To be frank, the earlier gens of Furby scared the shit out of me with their evil gremlin-like appearance.

    Lunch @ Sushi Tei, VivoCity

Today's lunch was at Sushi Tei, located at the 2nd level of VivoCity. I haven't visited the restaurant chain for a while so I was looking forward to try items from their new promotion menu - The Perfect Interfusion. Honestly, I have no idea how it is in any sense fusion food (ok, maybe the spaghettis count...).

In the end, I ordered the Uni, Zuwai Crab, Ika & Salmon Don ($26) from the promotion menu while the rest of the dishes for lunch are from the main menu.

New Samantha Thavasa Store @ Vivo & Hello Kitty Bag

I love Samantha Thavasa bags as they all look so feminine and adorable. Hence, it was great news for me to hear that there's a new Samantha Thavasa outlet opened at Tangs VivoCity.

Dinner @ Ayam Penyet Ria, Far East Plaza

The bf and I wasn't intending to have fried chicken for dinner, but seeing the long queues everywhere else, we decided to drop by Ayam Penyet Ria. This Indonesia restaurant has several branches island-wide, so for the record, the branch that this bunny visited was located at Far East Plaza, #05-22.

Both of us settled for chicken - Ayam Penyet (Smashed fried chicken) ($6.90) for the bf and Boneless Chicken Chunk ($6.90) for me.

Hello Kitty Cup Noodles from Hong Kong

    High tea @ Carousel

It's a girls' day out and our group of 5 lovely ladies had high tea at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Carousel is one of the rare halal-certified buffets available in Singapore. It is wise to make a reservation if you are planning to dine here as it is always very packed - yes, even for high tea on a weekday.

Hello Kitty Forever X Forever 21

Sanrio is collaborating with Forever 21 once again to bring apparel, travel accessories and home decor!

Mark your calendars for 16 Nov!

Food factory sales part 1: Food Warehouse Sales @ SFI

This post is the first In the series of articles where the bunny explores the various food factories for good deals.

Singapore Food Industries (SFI) is having a warehouse sale this weekend 10 - 11 Nov at their premises, 234 Pandan Loop.

    Friday, November 9, 2012

Mini Sanrio Sale @ Isetan Orchard

Taken on the escalator.. Pardon the blurry pic!
The bunny spotted a mini Sanrio sale at Level 4 of Isetan Orchard today. I call it mini because the sale occupied only a very small corner in the shopping mall and I would have missed it completely if I wasn't deliberately looking out for it.

Tokidoki x Hello Kitty Jeweled Collection

The Tokidoki x Hello Kitty collaboration is back once again! The Jeweled collection features Hello Kitty and Tokidoki with diamonds, gold chains and pearls.

    Sales @ Sephora

Sephora is having it's first ever storewide sale! Members get 20% off till 5 Nov.

With Christmas just round the corner and Sephora providing just the right excuse, I dragged the bf with me to Bugis+ for some retail therapy. Turning into the car park of Bugis+ required lots of patience today (a virtue which I'm working on) as it was sooooo packed, but it was well worth it.

    Saturday, November 3, 2012

    BBQ Chicken @ The Central

Though there's a good variety of restaurants and food outlets at The Central, the bf and I are pretty tired of eating the same foods over. We decided to give BBQ Chicken a try as it was a new restaurant to us.

According to the menu, rather than the widely accepted barbeque, BBQ stands for Best of the Best Quality.

    I beg to differ.

    Great deal @ with Groupon

Woo hoo!~ I have just received my loots from!

I purchased 3 pieces from them; 2 dresses for me, and a top for Mummy. This would have cost me $81, but I only paid a grand total of $48.60; $30 (for the Groupon) + $18.60 (for the balance and shipping). That's like a 40% discount!

Comparison on Groupon & BigDeal's refund process

The bunny is a firm believer of Murphy's law; what can go wrong will go wrong. This is especially true for group buy sites, they are the middleman after all.

I've had the misfortune to come across deals that require refunds from both Groupon and BigDeal. Here's a quick comparison of the stark contrast in the refund process with both companies.

New Lao Ban Soya Beancurd outlet @ Clementi

I wouldn't call Lao Ban's as beancurd, it's more of a pudding really. Somehow, I just prefer the silky texture of the soya pudding as compared to the traditional tau huay.

Today's my first visit to Lao Ban at Clementi since their opening in mid-September. The Clementi branch is situated at the first floor of City Vibes. Before, I'm used to getting my fix at Old Airport Road.

Bunny's comparison of yoga centres in SG

In a bid to get fit and lose some weight, I've been signing up for trial sessions at the various yoga centres to get a feel before I commit my hard earned cash..

So far, I've went for sessions at True Yoga, Pure Yoga, Bikram Yoga Harbourfront and Real Yoga. Below is my summary of the yoga centres compiled for easy reference. For clarity sake, all sessions at the various centres are for hot yoga and the info below is my experience with the yoga centres. Yours may differ with different consultants, staff, instructors, time slots etc.

Dinner at Kar Pin Grilled Seafood (Chomp Chomp) during the downpour

It's the first time I got a carpark space at Chomp Chomp... Ok, near Chomp Chomp... And I managed to parallel park, in a heavy downpour! (Pats myself on the back)

The bf and I settled for dinner at this relatively new looking stall called Kar Pin Grilled Seafood since there weren't many other choices for seats and our movement were restricted by the rainwater and puddles on the floor. Half of the seating at the food centre were unsheltered and thus wet - Not a weather friendly design at all.

    Wednesday, October 17, 2012

French dinner @ The Tastings Room

The bf bought vouchers to The Tastings Room off Groupon, so there we went for dinner. The Tastings Room is located at Marina Square, #01-08.

Perhaps due to renovation works starting soon (the restaurant is closed from 1 - 30 Nov), there were a number of dishes that we wanted to try but were not available. To compound matters, the waitress who took our orders wasn't sure what was available and what wasn't. Not a very good first impression.

In the end, the bf settled for 63° “Sous Vide” Pork Belly with Crackling Skin; for me, the Confit of French Duck Leg and an additional Earl Grey Crème Brulee with Poached Pear to share.

Family Dinner at Long Beach Seafood Restaurant, IMM

It's a pretty normal Saturday, with the bf visiting and Daddy and Mummy just decided to have a family dinner outside.
So Long Beach it was for dinner...

Anniversary Dinner @ Jerry's Barbeque & Grill, Club Street

The bf and me have been together for 3 years today!

Unlike the pish-posh dinner we had last year at Le Pont de Vie, we decided to settle on a casual eatery at Club Street.

On stepping into Jerry's Barbeque & Grill, it felt like we have been transported into an American mid-west diner. It wasn't crowded so we were seated almost immediately.

I feel so fulfilled! I just submitted an article to SOSD yesterday and they replied that they loved it! It's published on their website, now.

This article is on their new project, Labour of Love, which aims to get donations and volunteers to transform SOSD's newly acquired kennels into comfy places for their rescues.

    Organic Shampoo - Avalon Organics

I just had a hellish visit to my beautician. She spent at least 45mins trying to squeeze out all the pimple on my face and it was sooooo painful!

My beautician mentioned that my breakout could be caused by the shampoo I'm using for my hair, since the bumps are all near the hairline. My first reaction to that was: "Huh, what has shampoo got to do with the face?" Turns out that the chemicals in the shampoo sticks to the hair and transfers to the face even after washing. The worse seems to be ammonium and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which dries the skin and causes it to produce more sebum, thus, causing clogging pores and encouraging bacteria growth.

The bunny has finally gotten around to use the Etude House Moistfull Mask which arrived in the mail a few months back with some Korean skincare purchase from Gmarket.

Sakuraya Fish Mart @ Parkway Parade

The bf and I were shopping at Parkway Parade and being a "westie", it was my virgin trip to this shopping mall. It was a really fruitful trip - the bf got what he went there for and the bunny (me), stumbled onto a lovely restaurant while trying to fill her tummy.

The concept of Sakuraya Fish Mart is really interesting. The front of the shop space is a supermarket specializing in Japanese products and the back of the shop is a Japanese food haven. Also, you can choose your sashimi grade fish from the front and get the chef to slice it for you to enjoy in the restaurant space at no extra charge (of course, you still have to pay for the fish!).

    The Ship @ nex

The bf and were fully intending to head to Chomp Chomp to have some good old hawker food for dinner. However, we gave up after a few rounds of circling for carpark lots, to no avail. Eventually, we ended up at nex (parking was horrible as well after a 20 min queue), since both of us have not visited this new mall.

The Ship brings back nostalgic memories for the bf and the branch at Shaw is now closed for renovation. Hence, we agreed that The Ship it was for tonight's dinner.

    Dim Sum @ Victor's Kitchen

Sunshine Plaza is not a place I would usually go, but having heard so many good reviews on the dim sum at Victor's, I decided to make a trip down specially. Victor's Kitchen is situated at #01-21, Sunshine Plaza.

The place is small, but we managed get seats almost immediately.

At Victor's, you are given a slip of paper with the menu printed and you fill in the quantity of the items you want.

Mookata for dinner @ New Udon Thai Food

I have been craving for Thai food lately so the bf and I decided to hop down to Golden Mile Complex for dinner. We settled for New Udon Thai Food, located at #01-55 of the complex for Moo Kata.

Moo kata literally translates to pork-pan. For those who are unfamiliar, this form of Thai BBQ consists of a dome-shaped pan sitting on hot charcoal. The rim of the pan is filled with soup and drippings from the bbq meats flavors it.

    Swee Choon Tim-Sum Restaurant

I was feeling peckish after exploring the newly opened Gardens by the Bay and the bf suggested visiting Swee Choon for supper. After hearing so much about Swee Choon, I finally had the opportunity to visit the restaurant situated at 185/187/189/191 Jalan Besar.

Sanrio Gift Gate @ Marina Square

The bunny passed by Marina Square today and noticed that there's a new Sanrio Gift Gate at level 3.

Like moths drawn to light, I was drawn to explore this new shop that promises Hello Kitty galore.

Brunch Dim Sum Buffet @ Jade, The Fullerton Hotel

It's Daddy's special day and I decided to bring my parents (and myself of course) for a treat at Jade...
Service is rather slow at Jade, so place your orders fast if you're hungry.

    Sunday, July 1, 2012

Dinner @ Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar

The bf and I decided to give Koh's a try after reading good reviews. Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar isn't exactly a restaurant - it's a tenant in Wisma Atria's food court.

Disappointing lunch @ Sakura International Buffet, SAFRA Jurong

To celebrate Father's Day today, we decided to try out Sakura's new branch at SAFRA Jurong for lunch.

The dining experience was a DISASTER...

    Dinner @ MEDZS, Millenia Walk

    Today's dinner at MEDZS again...

MEDZS has become one of my favorite places for European cuisine at reasonable prices. The dining concept at MEDZS is similar to Marche - you'll be given a charge card to use at the different stations in the restaurant and payment is made at the end of your visit. There are 8 stations in the restaurant which offers French, Spanish, Morrocan, Turkish, Greek and Mediterreanean foods, as well as a craft beer bar.

You can choose alfresco/ indoor seating here. The restaurant also serves iced-water and chips with salsa dip on the house.
